Zaryn for AI agents

Claude Code, Codex and other coding agents can work with Zaryn and zev for you. They never get an account of their own: a person approves each one, chooses what it may do, and can revoke it at any time. Everything it does is recorded under its own name.

  1. 1

    Install the zev CLI

    The agent works through zev, the same tool you use. It is a single binary.

    curl -fsSL https://zaryn.xyz/install.sh | sh
    zev --version
  2. 2

    Let the agent sign in, with your approval

    The agent runs this and shows you a code. You open the link, check the code, choose what it may do, and approve. It gets its own token, named after it, valid for 90 days. It never sees your key.

    zev login zaryn.xyz --device --client "Claude Code"
  3. 3

    Add Zaryn to the agent as an MCP server

    Now the agent can read repositories, files and history, search, follow issues, pull requests, CI and security advisories, and (with repo:write) open issues and comment.

    Claude Code
    claude mcp add zaryn -- zev mcp
    Codex
    codex mcp add zaryn -- zev mcp
    Codex (~/.codex/config.toml)
    [mcp_servers.zaryn]
    command = "zev"
    args = ["mcp"]
    Any MCP client (stdio)
    { "mcpServers": { "zaryn": { "command": "zev", "args": ["mcp"] } } }

Tell the agent how this repository works

Repositories on Zaryn use zev, not git. Put this in AGENTS.md (Codex) or CLAUDE.md (Claude Code) at the root of your repository:

This repository is versioned with zev (not git) and hosted on Zaryn.
- See changes: zev status, zev diff
- Commit: zev add <file>, then zev commit "<message>"
- Publish: zev push
- Issues and pull requests: zev issue, zev pr (or the zaryn_* MCP tools)
Never run git commands here.

Signing a person up from an agent

An agent can start an account for you, but only you can finish it: the code goes to your inbox. One email address opens one account.

zev login zaryn.xyz --register <username> --email <you@example.com>
# then, with the 6-digit code from the email:
zev login zaryn.xyz --register <username> --code <123456>

Rules that keep it safe

  • Agents act for a verified person; they can't create accounts that nobody confirmed.
  • Each agent token carries only the scopes you ticked, and expires after 90 days.
  • Merging, deleting and changing settings are left to people: the MCP tools don't do them.
  • Automated mass sign-ups, scraping and spam break the Acceptable use policy.
